
Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Introduction
Shanghai Jiao Tong University is a prestigious national key university established by the Ministry of Education of China and the Shanghai Municipal Government. Its predecessor, Nanyang Public School, was founded in 1986 and is one of the oldest universities established by Chinese people, along with Beiyang University. Since its establishment, it has nurtured many outstanding talents, including former Chinese President Jiang Zemin.
The university is particularly strong in the fields of science and engineering, medicine, and sociology. It currently has approximately 60,000 enrolled students, including around 6,000 international students. The School of International Education, which began in 1982, has seen the enrollment of over 3,000 foreign students to date.
